About The Songs of Our People:
‘The Songs Of Our People’ is a self published book by Anurag Banerjee that looks at identity and belonging through the lives of musicians in the North-Eastern state of Meghalaya. Having taken root during the CAA/NRC protests of 2019/2020, a large part of the book looks at genres such as Rap and RnB in Meghalaya but also explores the states diversity and rich cultural heritage through music of all genres. Looking at music that comes from all parts of the state, the book attempts to paint a holistic picture of music in Meghalaya and is a celebration of the place and its people.
